Many of the women I work with end up making changes to their web copy! This is because the exercises we do together provide more clarity about who they are speaking to and what their audience wants to hear. Below are 2 of the tips I share:
- State clearly and without ambiguity who your business serves in order to attract clients. With focus sharp as this, the very people your web site addresses will know you are talking to them. Also, others who come across your site can refer you to those who need you. Surprisingly, I have visited many business websites that leave me confused as to what the owner offers and how they help. As the saying goes, “A confused mind always says NO! And they say it by clicking away!
- State clearly and without ambiguity what problems you solve so you can attract clients with these problems. Be sure to highlight the pain in your audience’s hearts. Don’t just tell them you can handle their admin and schedule their appointments. Tell them the benefits of this to them! They can then have time to do what they love/play with their kids/save the world! The problems you solve are two-stepped (at least!) Step one is the problem they talk about e.g. So much to do and too little time. Step two is the problem they dream about e.g. “I don’t spend enough time with my kids/partner/parents,” or “At this rate, I’ll never get to travel the world.” Talk with your ideal client and find out what their Step two pains are. Then show them how your service takes care of step one so that they can resolve step two.
When you identify your audience and tell them what they want to hear they will pay attention to you and tell others too!
