The Get Clear, Get Known, GET CLIENTS System - About

While researching my business idea at the very beginning, I decided on my target market and proceeded to research its pressing problems. I spoke with over 50 women business owners, met with them online and off, eavesdropped and participated in their online forums, surveyed them, read their magazines, blogs and websites and got a great deal of firsthand feedback. The recurring problems uncovered by my research were:

how to get more clients, increase business profits

  1. Getting a steady stream of clients to their businesses, month in, month out, and subsequently
  2. Generating a steady income from these businesses

Below are a few snippets from the survey responses when asked their most pressing challenges, and what they wish they had known when starting out in business:

“… Need to avoid “feast-or-famine.”

“… Need steady client-stream…”

“… Lack of clients …”

“I wish I’d known that marketing never stops …”

“I need to increase my client-base …”

“ … Your savings go quickly if you don’t hurry up and find clients!”

There are several possible reasons for this “She-biz Challenge,” as I call it. I have outlined these in my free resource, 12 Reasons Women Business Owners Struggle to Get Clients

How did I come about these 12 causes or reasons? From personal study and experience, from my research and from being mentored by 2 very successful women business coaches. Having failed at five start-ups in the past, and finally turning things around with number six, I am quite familiar with this terrain! I have grouped these 12 common reasons for struggling to get clients under 3 broad categories. These 3 categories are the basis of my unique client-attraction system. They are:

1. Getting clear

This refers to clarity and focus regarding whom you serve and how. Typically, women in business are so passionate about helping others that they attempt to “help” everyone! Focusing on a section of the population seems abominable to such women as this would mean excluding “all the others” from the “great services and products” we have to offer. This could be the natural nurturing instinct at work, but there are more profitable ways to employ this in your business, and I’ll show you how!

Another area where clarity and focus pay off is in sifting through the information-overload that we are all plagued with today. “Should I be on Twitter or Face Book?” “Should I be marketing online or off? Or both?” Plus the hundred and one newsletters, reports, e-courses, webinars, Meet-Up groups and more that we have on our plates! You definitely do not need it all, and my system helps you sort out what you do need. Most often, this will not be any new knowledge, I assure you!

2. Getting Known

We women are great at what we do, and all fired up with passion! However many of us are content to remain a humble and well kept secret. Again, this could be connected with society’s female conditioning – to be seen and not heard, to act ladylike and self-effacing – but times are a-changing and so must we be!

During this phase of my work with clients, we craft their Personal Get-Known Strategy, based on their unique strengths, their business and their target market. Using this strategy we embark on a campaign to get acquainted with, and known in the client’s target market. The focus is on relationship and rapport-building, and on educating the market of the client’s unique benefits. This phase results in 2 things:

  1. Those who resonate with the client’s work step out and identify with the client – by making enquiries, attending trial sessions, attending open days or launch parties, signing up for newsletters or availing themselves of whatever introductory services the client renders.
  2. Those who do not identify with the client’s message self-select out of the process by declining initial offers or after a trial session, newsletter subscription or free resource they opt out, unsubscribe or decide not to take things further. Though this separation may look like the client is losing prospects it is actually a great way to find the ideal clients who will get the most from working with you.

The Get Known phase provides the client with a data base of qualified leads to follow up on.

3. Getting Clients

personal business coaching and mentoring for womenAt this point the client follows up on these qualified leads to determine how best they can be of help. If the client is able to match a solution with the prospect’s needs, a sale is made and a client converted. If no match is immediately made, the prospect is kept in the sales pipeline with further follow-up scheduled. Unless the prospect eventually opts out they remain in the pipeline until they are converted to clients, however long this may take.

During the Get Clients phase, the client learns or sharpens their selling skills and is helped to overcome any misconceptions about follow-up and selling.

In summary, the Get Clear, Get Known, GET CLIENTS™ System is a step-by-step blueprint for (a) determining your hot audience and the unique value you offer them, (b) positioning your business as the solution to their problems so that THEY COME TO YOU and ask for your help and (c) converting prospects to clients, plus generating repeat business and referrals. The system simply helps participants to get clear, get known and get clients! All vital aspects of a client-attraction process.
